Best Beauty Brands For 2014: Acure Organics

Beauty Blog Cancer Green Beauty Hair My Organic Life My Photography Product Reviews Skincare

Acure products are all made from natural ingredients (which means no parabens, synthetic fragrances, sulfates, or artificial colors) and contain some fair trade and organic ingredients as well.  They are also Gluten Free, PEG free, Sulfate Free and do NOT test on animals. Their packaging is made from Post consumer recycled content. Acure donates much of their proceeds to charities that focus on Cancer Research – which, as you guys know, is my jam – including an association with Bright Pink, which is the only national non-profit organization focusing on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women, while providing support for high-risk individuals.  Not only do I love their Cause – their sleek packaging, Probiotic-packed ingredient list and the versatility in their line is super impressive!

Acure Organics believe that each and every one of us can make an enormous impact on the world. By making small changes in the items we use, the purchases we make and the way we approach each day, we all really can change things! With a philosophy like that, I was so excited to try them!

Acure For Your Face:

Acure 100% Certified Argan Oil – $14.99

I am psyched about this incredible oil, and totally in love with it.  It’s a staple in my beauty routine & the #1 on my skin changing recommendations list for green beauty newbies or people on a budget.  For $15 it is complete and total luxury. This is an UNREFINED Argan oil and is incredibly rich in Vitamin E, Essential Fatty Acids, and Proteins.  The reason that this is so important is because once an Argan oil is refined – like many of the Argan Oils available – it loses up to 60% of those beneficial essential fatty acids, proteins, and skin benefiting properties.  Acure’s Argan Oil is incredibly rich in all of these Vitamin E, Essential Fatty Acids, and Proteins, and helps fight lines, repair imperfections, minimize scars + stretch marks; all while restoring texture, elasticity and tone. I use this post-shower on my face and it is heavenly! Just 2 or 3 drops of this added to a clay mask, topically on scars, blemishes, or for a cleansing and my skin is glowing.  It also works wonders added to your bath to give your entire body just a little extra moisture and Argan love!  Lightweight and easily absorbed, this oil is often referred to as “liquid gold” so – as Acure puts it – ” get yourself some beauty bling!”

Acure Oil Control Facial Moisturizer – $18.99

This slightly fruity, light but hard working Oil Control Moisturizer is perfect for my skin during the day!  I’ve had a hard time finding a moisturizer that works well under makeup – any makeup – all makeup.  And since my job involves just showing up to a shoot bare-faced and allowing whomever the MUA is to put makeup on my skin all day long, I really needed something that was going to help it stay moisturized, holds up that was also natural.  Then this came into my life.  Bingo!  Exactly the balance I was looking for! 🙂

Lillac stem cells + 1% chlorella growth factor minimizes fine lines, and helps prevent breakouts while achieving an incredible and healthy glow under makeup.  A very little goes a very long way!

Acure Frangrance Free Sensitive Facial Cleanser – $14.99

This compassionate cleanser is definitely great for people with sensitive skin!  I use the Sensitive Face Cleanser whenever I need a hard working cleanser that’s not hard on my skin.  For instance, after a shoot where I’ve been wearing stuck on makeup for hours – or after a long run, hike, or walk through the City, this is perfect!  It smells incredible, is Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, PEG free, Silicone and Phthalate Free and doesn’t clog pores at all!  Argan Oil, Probiotics & Pumpkin seed oil make this a cleanser that’s rich in fatty acids – it cleans so gently and leaves skin feeling fresh and even hydrated.  I have extremely dry skin and I don’t find that I have to moisturize so quickly after using this to cleanse.  That’s honestly what I love so much about it!  It really gives my skin a break but also truly works.

Acure Cell Stimulating Face Mask – $14.99

Again.  For $15, you can’t go wrong.  And, unlike most face masks, this actually smells great – like light spearmint!!  This is one of those Face Masks that I just add in a little drop to every other DIY face mask routine “just to be safe”.  This stuff is no joke: French Green Clay draws out impurities while Moroccan Argan Oil Stem Cells, CoQ10 and Seabuckthorn Oil provide moisture.   I absolutely love clay, as I think I’ve said a million times before, so the French Green base was hugely attractive for me!  I normally add some of the Acure Argan Oil along with it, just to get the full effect, and it’s a beautiful treat!

Acure For Your Body:

Acure Unscented Cocoa Butter + CoQ10 Ultra-Hydrating Body Lotion – $9.99

With Skim Immune Technology.

And it’s even better than THAT.

Specialized Plant Stem Cells, Organic Argan Oil, Probiotics, Olive Leaf and CoQ10 make up this no-nonsense lotion.  I use this on my arms, legs and body after shower and it is perfect – absolutely perfect!   I’ve had SUCH bad experiences with so many lotions being too greasy, but this is the real deal!  No grease, no mess, and it sinks into skin in such a lovely and healthy way.  No pore clogging grossness and safe for everyone!  And, dare I say – it’s helping stretch marks I’ve had since I was 18?  I’ve been slathering this on before I go surfing or running on the beach and the cocoa butter & argan oil together with the CoQ10 really minimizes lines, helps sunburns and moisturizes dry skin like no other!

Acure For Your Hair:

Let me be clear: my hair does whatever the hell it wants to.  I’m extremely skeptical when it comes to hair products.  My conditioner needs to really condition, my curl calmer needs to really calm my curls, my dry shampoo needs to really dry oil in my hair, my shampoo or no-poo bar needs to really clean.  You get the point.

Acure Dry Shampoo with Argan Stem Cell + CoQ10 – $12.99

This dry shampoo from Acure has been life changing for me!  It’s made it possible to “clean” my hair without shampoo – meaning, I can use a shower cap, take my shower, use this dry shampoo in my hair, brush it out and I am good to go!  While I know this is what dry shampoo is supposed to do – most have never, ever worked for me.  The oil in my hair just takes over with grease after a few hours and my life becomes an embarrassing mess instead of a hair commercial.  This one is the first I’ve really felt did the job immensely, immediately and long term!  It’s cut hours of hair prep time from my life, cleans my hair and is 100% natural!  What an amazing balance of ingredients: Kaolin, Corn Starch (non GMO), Oat Flour, Argan Stem and CoQ10 really work to keep hair happy!

Acure Leave-In Conditioner – $9.99

Under $10 for one of the most nutrient packed, natural, weightless leave-in conditioners out there?  Yes, plz.  Thank you!  This is a great detangler as well as conditioner – as those you who also have curly, natural, Afro-centered, Mixed or kinky hair know it can really get messy up there.  I brush it out every day in the shower or I’d be dealing with a real rat’s nest.  If I use this on my curls, & brush through, I am done.  Finito.  I don’t have to use anything else.   For a curly girl, this is miraculous!  This cures frizz, dryness and and fights humidity like a mofo.  It leaves hair glossy, thick, and dare I say (once again?) that my hair has been growing longer and growing back healthier since I started using this?  After just a few days I noticed way less breakage when I was brushing and this was the only change in my post-shower hair ritual, since I usually just let it dry naturally.  Acure leave-in Conditioner gives my hair a wonderful texture which I actual prefer to it’s natural curl!

Acure Moroccan Argan Oil + Argan Stem Cell Conditioner – $9.99

Like I said, my Conditoner realllly need to condition.  While this doesn’t deep conditon my curls, it also doesn’t claim to 😉  although it is recommended for curly hair.   It’s a great “starting” and “ending” conditioner: meaning I use it on my roots and ends for extra moisture with a deep conditioner during my showers or baths and it does the trick! It lathers well and is an easy rinse, and I enjoy the smell, which is lightly Vegetable!  It’s definitely healing my hair, as it gives it a nice bounce, lovely curl, and seems to prevent frizz.  For $10 I’d recommend it to anyone with more manageable hair for sure!
